His goal setting process was really interesting to me. You write the following:
1. What I think I really want.
2. What I think I have to do to get there.
3. How I will feel when I have attained #1.
When you have done that, you take your answer for #3, make it your real answer to #1 (what you think you really want) and do steps 2 and 3 again.
You can go through the process several times if you need to until you get to the "real" thing you want, not just what you "think" you want.
After I had done this process it kind of amazed me what I "wanted". It turned my goal into more of an emotional and spiritual goal than just a physical goal. Yes, I am still exercising and watching what I eat, but I am also focusing on emotional and spiritual aspects of my life to help me reach my goals.
So far, I have lost 8lbs in my three weeks.
Hopefully Dr. Phil can help keep me motivated through the rest of the book.
Now if my daughter would just quit making brownies!
