What kind of freaky mother are you?

No, no body asked me that question, although I am sure people have thought it. I just took a little quiz.

This is what kind of Freaky Mama I am:

You're a girl power mommy! You love to be girly, but you're no pushover. Your kids are learning that gender differences don't have to mean gender inequality. You've taken back pink, and you don't care who knows it!

Go Pink!

A Poem -

Today you are you,
That's true-er than true.
There's no one alive that's you-er than you.
Shout aloud, "I am glad to be who I am!"
Thank goodness I'm not a clam or a ham,
Or a dusty old jar of goose berry jam.
I am what I am, what a great thing to be,
I say so myself, "happy everyday to be me."

Ready, Set, Start!

I am a great starter. I LOVE to start new projects. At any given time I probably have 5 or more active projects.

There is something so exciting and energizing about starting a new project. Thinking about how fun it will be to work on and how great it will be when it is completed. Finishing a project is great too, just not as thrilling as starting one. ( I guess that all depends on the project you are doing though)

My current projects are:
  • Scrapbooking - which is an ongoing, unending, updated project. I have a scrapbook group that I get together with once a month. Fun fun!!
  • Christmas gifts that I am making for my scrapbooking group. This is my big pile of stuff. I can't show too much detail because I don't want to give away what it is!
  • My blog (wahoo!!)
  • Chemo Caps - an ongoing knitting project. I make them to donate to Cancer patients. They are cute and fuzzy and multi colored. I would wear them if I was bald!
  • Christmas gifts that I am knitting for my Nursery kids - I knitted a really cute little hedgehog. I would show you a picture but my 12 year old decided she needed to own it.
  • Afghan - I am knitting squares to put together for my hubby.
  • Stitchery class - I just ended
  • Quilting class - I am going to start in September - this is a beginning quilting class that I have signed up for at a quilt shop.
  • UFO's - Un-Finished Objects. Like this poor afghan that I started crocheting years ago. It isn't finished, but I don't like the color anymore and that makes me not want to work on it but I can't bear to tear it out. So it just sits there in it's basket, alone, unloved and unworked on.
I love to work on things while I watch T.V. or movies with my hubby. Although sometimes I am too tired while watching T.V. and I just want to sit like a slug.

Stitchery Class

This year I have been teaching a monthly stitchery class for Enrichment. Saturday was our final class.

I taught the ladies how to add color to the fabric before doing their stitching. These are the two projects that we did. The framed stitchery was done with chalking and the pillow was done with crayon. Yep, Crayon!

To do the chalking, you take your basic scrapbook chalks and a small soft paint brush. You get the chalk on the brush and apply the chalk to the fabric. When you want to change colors, just wipe the brush on a dry towel or napkin and you are ready to go. Once you have the color how you want it, spray the fabric with a fixative designed to work with chalks. I use Krylon. Then you stitch it as normal.

For the crayon, you take your basic crayola crayons and color right on the fabric. When you are finished coloring, take your fabric to the ironing board and lay it right side up. Place a clean white piece of paper over it and press. The heat will slightly melt the coloring. You can do shading by coloring heavier in some areas or by using a second darker color. It looks really cruddy at this point, but when you get the stitching lines done, it turns out really cute.

Boot Camp

Holy Cow! I tried a new work out video, Crunch Boot Camp. It was aerobics and weights.

I decided to try my 5lb weights instead of the 3lb I use in my aerobics class. This work out targeted some muscle groups that I haven't been working in that class and man do I feel it.

At least the people in this video had the decency to sweat and "act" like the lady was working them hard!

My pretties!

I love to garden. Unfortunately for our grocery bill, I prefer flowers and shrubbery over fruits and veggies.

I thought I would share some of my pretty flowers since they are at their height of bloomage.

Just call me Goddess Vila!

(in reference to Bob Vila, even though I don't really like him, but I would pick him any day over Martha Stewart. I actually like Bob Vila's assistant better, but I can't remember his name.)

Anyway -

Guess what I did today! I put a ceiling fan in my office. I really didn't just "put" it there, I actually INSTALLED it! (with a little help from my hubby - thanks Dearie!)

This is the first time I have done something like this.
I even did the wiring.

I am very proud of myself but I also hope this is the last ceiling fan I ever have to install because it really wasn't very fun. But, I am loving the breeze!

Tomato seeds on my shirt

I remember, in times past, when I used to be able to eat my food without evidence of it ending up on my shirt.

I think it all started with my first pregnancy and it just went down hill from there. I don't know why this happens, but it is a sad fact of motherhood. It must be some coordination brain cells giving up the ghost in the process of teaching our children to eat.

You either get food on you from your kids putting it there (throwing it at you, spitting it at you or throwing it up on you) by preparing or cleaning up meals (larger body parts being more likely to rub against the counter top) or just by being so darn tired or trying to multi task too many things at once that you just plain miss your mouth.

Oh to be young and have a clean shirt.

Kitlers

Ha ha ha. I just found a funny website.

Cats that look like Hitler.

Who knew there were so many!

The sound of silence!

pssstt - do you hear that?

Isn't the quiet wonderful!!

School started today.

WAHOO!!

Go to bed, I'm tired!!

My mom used to say that to me when I was younger. I thought it was a silly statement. If she was tired, why didn't she go to bed.

I never understood it until I became a parent. Now I totally get where she was coming from.

I'm too tired to be a mom right now, go to bed where you can't do any damage to yourself or anyone or anthing around you and let me get some blessed sleep!

Dr. Phil and the Amazing Shrinking Woman

I like to listen to audio books while I work. I go to the library and check out 5-10 for a couple of weeks at a time. Recently I checked out Dr. Phil's book The Ultimate Weight Solution. I have only listened to the first part of the book, but have already done some goal setting and started my "program".

His goal setting process was really interesting to me. You write the following:
1. What I think I really want.
2. What I think I have to do to get there.
3. How I will feel when I have attained #1.

When you have done that, you take your answer for #3, make it your real answer to #1 (what you think you really want) and do steps 2 and 3 again.

You can go through the process several times if you need to until you get to the "real" thing you want, not just what you "think" you want.

After I had done this process it kind of amazed me what I "wanted". It turned my goal into more of an emotional and spiritual goal than just a physical goal. Yes, I am still exercising and watching what I eat, but I am also focusing on emotional and spiritual aspects of my life to help me reach my goals.

So far, I have lost 8lbs in my three weeks.

Hopefully Dr. Phil can help keep me motivated through the rest of the book.

Now if my daughter would just quit making brownies!

Getting Water from Stone

The plummer came and we now have a fix to our "lack of drain" problem.

They have fashioned a nice box/tray of sorts that the new water heater and new water softener sit in. There is a lovely little pump that will turn on if there is over 3/4" of water in there and a cute little alarm that will sound if hit by water. Sounds like a smoke detector.

When deciding on the water softener we wanted to see, just for chuckles and grins, exactly how HARD our water was. The test strip goes from 1 to 8. One being the softest and anything above a 4 being recommended for a water softener. Our water was an over achiever coming in at 7.5 or better.

It's amazing it has flowed at all!

It Does a Heart Good!

No warm fuzzies here, I'm talking about the step aerobics program I do in the mornings.

I know I'm a product of my previous lifestyle, but honestly - is it really fair how in shape these work out mavens are? I mean one talks through the whole thing, some have two risers on their steps and they don't even break a sweat! Meanwhile, I'm shvitzing all over the place.

"I wanna do it again, I'm having so much fun".

What workout is she doing? I'm stopping to guzzle some gatorade!

Then to make things even more fun, I'm on the floor working my abs (crunch baby!) Sophie my Pug decides to come lay on my tummy.

Next we are using the "stability ball". Sitting at an incline, holding the ball at arms length, swinging it right to left, my pug thinks I am playing a game with her and starts trying to jump on the ball.

"how about we do another eight sets"!

oh where oh where did my little blog go?

For some reason, my original http://musingsofadomesticgoddess.blogspot.com/ has disappeared from dashboard. So, I have now created this new blog which is http://musings-of-a-domestic-goddess.blogspot.com/.

I don't know what happened or where it went, but I have missed it dearly. Please pause for a moment of silence in it's honor!

Now on with the posting!!!!!
