Dr. Phil and the Amazing Shrinking Woman

I like to listen to audio books while I work. I go to the library and check out 5-10 for a couple of weeks at a time. Recently I checked out Dr. Phil's book The Ultimate Weight Solution. I have only listened to the first part of the book, but have already done some goal setting and started my "program".

His goal setting process was really interesting to me. You write the following:
1. What I think I really want.
2. What I think I have to do to get there.
3. How I will feel when I have attained #1.

When you have done that, you take your answer for #3, make it your real answer to #1 (what you think you really want) and do steps 2 and 3 again.

You can go through the process several times if you need to until you get to the "real" thing you want, not just what you "think" you want.

After I had done this process it kind of amazed me what I "wanted". It turned my goal into more of an emotional and spiritual goal than just a physical goal. Yes, I am still exercising and watching what I eat, but I am also focusing on emotional and spiritual aspects of my life to help me reach my goals.

So far, I have lost 8lbs in my three weeks.

Hopefully Dr. Phil can help keep me motivated through the rest of the book.

Now if my daughter would just quit making brownies!
