Holiday Cooking, Blogger Style

I decided to join in on the recipe swap going on over at Overwhelmed with Joy!

My favorite holiday recipe to make, Mom's Eggnog, is not only fabulous it is easy peasy!!

Every Christmas morning we would have this eggnog for breakfast with doughnuts, bear claws and other bakery delights.

Now we have it in my house and I make Pillsbury Apple and Cherry Turnovers.

Here you go. Make this in a large bowl - a lovely punch bowl makes it look fancy.

Mom's Eggnog
1/2 gallon vanilla ice cream - cut up into about 8 pieces.
1/2 gallon milk
1/2 - 1 gallon egg nog

Now you just mix it together and let the icecream get soft and it will make the eggnog kind of shake like but not thick. Still drinkable.

Depending on your tastes with milk it can be skim to whole, but at this point in the recipe does one really need skim milk.

  10. Oooohhhh fond memories. I loved Christmas morning. THe eggnog was fabulous but deadly. It took me many years to figure out why I always got sick on Christmas.

    Lactose intolerance.

Day old donuts are still a tradition here. I drink the eggnog, but pay for it later.

oh... Wendy directed me here. :)

  14. You know, my husband absolutely LOVES eggnog. Honestly, I just haven't aquired a taste for it. Maybe that's because the only kind I've tried is the store-bought kind. I'm going to try your mom's recipe. I know Oronzo will appreciate it! :)

Thanks so much for participating in my Holiday Cooking, Blogger Style recipe exchange. I sure do appreciate it!
