Is it just me?

I have just converted to blogger beta. I read that I can "customize" my blog layout with drag and drop. I thought I would be able to add a third column, which I have been wanting to do, so I upgraded.

Now that I am upgraded and can't go back, I find out that I lose my custom template and have to use one of their boring ones. I also find that I can't "drag and drop" a third column in. I am also trying to copy in some code from my old template, which I saved in Word, and it won't accept it. For some reason code that worked in blogger won't work in beta. hu?

I am so frustrated!!! How can something that is supposed to be so easy make me feel so stupid?

  1. Maybe this will help you add a header back. http://betabloggerfordummies.blogspot.com/2006/10/how-to-add-picture-to-beta-blog-header.html

It's how I learned to do mine. Glad you're back!

  3. When I deleted my old blog, I gave Blogger Beta a try. I didn't like it. It's very limited to what you can do with customization. I'm so used to the unlimited capabilities of WP.
Hope you're able to figure it out!

  4. i've been really tempted to make the switch; i'm glad i haven't.

the recent inability to comment on beta blogs as myself has been really frustrating! but you can find me here.

  5. Well, you're not alone in beta blogger frustrations. I don't use it but this week their upgrades broke something as a commenter. Suddenly, my sign in account for blogger wouldn't work anymore and I couldn't log in - after multiple attempts and much lost typing..grrrr. Today I found a go-around by signing up with a new account using my google information. So life is a little better today, it's nice to know there's always a way but frustrating to have to find it sometimes!!

  7. Any time something says "beta", I hold my breath and dive in, figuring that I'm about to be the guinea pig for somebody's research.

Be thankful. There aren't as many issues now as there were in the beginning.

Don't feel stupid. Feel used. There's a reason Google is $500 a share.

  8. I don't even know how to do a custom template on regular blogger! It is all WAY too confusing for me! A totally different world! I'm amazed I've figured out what I have!

    Sorry you're frustrated!

  9. *raises hand* Oooo pick ME! I can tell you! *waves hand wildly!*

Ahem. Yes. It's because Blogger is bound and determined to have THEIR way in all things bloggy! And the whole Beta thing is a dastardly PLOT to take over the blogosphere and make us all LOOK ALIKE! Next they're going to make us all THINK alike! But not me! Cuz I am NEVER changing to BETA! NEVER NEVER NEVER!!!!!!!!!
(but thanks for confirming my decision for me!)

  11. I totally agree. I am fed up with having to sign in all the time to leave comments.

I actually popped by to wish you all the best for 2007

  12. Are you posting new ones and they're not showing up because I didn't do blogger beta?? This has happened several times before. Weird.

I hope things are good and you had a nice Christmas! Did Brit get an email from Clinton thanking her for the gift?? He said he sent one, but you never know.

i guess when we started our blog it was already the new one so i didn't have problems (so far!) as i didn't know how it was before....

but i can TOTALLY relate to feeling stupid trying to get something done - see my blog and you'll understand:
    dysfunctionalhousewives.comm

i came to your blog because the name naturally appealed to me - maybe i can learn something as i am more of a domestic mess.
